Suzanne (Rich) Eaton
Welcome! This is the place to explore a wide range of my art—old and new.
Over three decades, I’ve worked in a variety of creative fields—as an editorial illustrator, a magazine designer, a concept artist, and a website builder. I earned a BFA in Illustration from Mass. College of Art, studied education theory as a grad student, and currently I plan community events around large collaborative LEGO builds.
I spent pandemic years brushing up on skills in the Adobe Creative Suite, getting comfortable working on a tablet (which began as drawing portraits for fun), and I began nature journaling. I studied botanical art with the Friends of Wellesley College Botanic Gardens and I earned a certificate from RISD in natural science illustration. Here's a timeline of that period.
I continue to enjoy honing my rendering skills through careful observation of the natural world. Nearby wooded trails act as an endless source of wonder. When studying my tiniest subjects, I often use digital photography. Although my macro images are primarily captured as references for drawing and painting, they sometimes feel like a pursuit on their own—so I share those here as well.
My latest work is more abstract—sculptural installations with an element of public performance. Natural forms still provide inspiration, but now I can explore concepts of connection, impermanence, shared experience, and more. In the future, I hope to expand on this work, to help others recognize and better understand things like: ecological fragility, community strength, and autistic joy. These works are currently in process of documentation, but should be visible here soon.
